Healing with kindness
Wednesday 9th of September 2009
My father taught me many things as a child that have stayed with me as an adult. I was raised on "random acts of genuine kindness". I remember coming home from school and instead of being asked what I learned at school that day he'd ask me who I was able to help that day.
He was an amazing man, my father. Much of who I am today comes from his early teachings. Sadly, he died when I was a teenager. Looking back now, I realise how much he taught me in our brief time together.
I continue to teach people about random acts of genuine kindness. Live in the moment and be aware of what is happening around you. There will be many opportunities. You'll be surprised how you doing something for someone else will make you feel- it might take less than a minute but the affect of it could last much longer.
Try it and see how it makes you feel. It certainly brightens my day. It could brighten yours too, and someone else's.
