My husband taught me this one from his days living in Australia. It really works and it works for colds, sore throats and also the flu.
Ingredients are: lemon, fresh root ginger, Manuka honey and water- it has to be Manuka honey. I’ve tried other honeys and they just don’t have the same healing abilities. Take a big fat piece of ginger, peel it and grate it into tiny pieces- the finer the better as you will be eating it. Then juice the lemon. Take a generous teaspoon of the Manuka. Put all of this into a mug and add hot water. Stir it together and then let it steep for about 5 minutes. Then, drink it all down and get the ginger down too. It works brilliantly. –J
Drink a lot of green tea. I drink about 6-8 large mugs of green tea every day. I rarely get ill. -J
One lemon should be diluted in a glass of warm water, and a teaspoon of honey should be added to it. This should be taken once or twice daily.
Garlic soup is an old remedy to reduce the severity of a cold, and should be taken once daily. The soup can be prepared by boiling three or four cloves of chopped garlic in a cup of water. The oil contained in garlic helps to open up the respiratory passages. In soup form, it flushes out all toxins from the system and helps bring down fever.
Taking one garlic capsule a day helps prevent colds. -J
About ten grams of ginger should be cut into small pieces and boiled in a cup of water. It should then be strained and half a teaspoon of honey added to it. Drink when hot.
When I feel a cold coming on, I take 3000 mg of Vitamin C with Rose Hips tablets and it tends to relieve the symptoms and shorten the duration of the cold. -J
